Butzel Long Appoints Attorney and Shareholder as Chair of Immigration Practice Department

Attorney and shareholder of Butzel Long Linda Armstrong has been appointed chair of the firm’s immigration practice department.

Armstrong focuses her practice on business and family immigration law, which includes all aspects involved with the international movement of personnel; immigration consequences of corporate restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions; employer and workplace compliance issues; inbound and outbound work-authorized immigrant and nonimmigrant matters; and labor certification.

“Linda has been an important contributor to the growth of our nationally-known immigration law practice and is ideally suited to lead that practice as it continues to serve the needs of our clients,” says Justin G. Klimko, president and CEO of Butzel Long.

Armstrong is a member of the firm’s Paralegal Committee and Global Automotive Industry Group. She also gives on-site training to business clients.

Additionally, Armstrong speaks on business immigration to both professional and business organizations and is a member of the American Bar Association; Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association; and American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She is also a former Immigration Committee co-chair for the Federal Bar Association; a past council member and chair of the Immigration Committee State Bar of Michigan: International Law Section; AILA Michigan Chapter and past Membership Committee chair and Department of Labor liaison.

Armstrong has helped organize and has presented at Butzel Long’s Immigration Seminar and/or the Butzel Long’s Annual Labor, Employment, and Immigration Law Forum for the past 20 years.

Armstrong focused on immigration law at another Detroit firm before coming to Butzel Long. She also worked for Federal-Mogul Corporation as associate general counsel, where she was responsible for legal matters relating to employment relations, product liability, advertising, political action committees, and immigration.

She is a graduate of both Madonna College and Detroit College of Law. She made The Best Lawyers in America list for immigration law.
