HARBOR SPRINGS — BOYNE Golf Academy of northern Michigan is heading south this winter to PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Florida, offering six three-day winter golf schools. The schools take place Feb. 21-23; Feb. 24-26; March 21-23; March 24-26; April 11-13; and April 14-16. Each session offers a 3-to-1 student-teacher ratio.
The schools are led by Brian O’Neill, director of golf instruction, and Mike Fay, director of player performance. O’Neill is the creator of the BOYNE Golf Academy and has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Top Ten Teachers in Michigan. He is also a disciple of renowned instructor, Jim Flick. Fay has earned the Top 50 Kids Teacher Award from U.S. Kids Golf and was the first Golf Channel SwingFix Certified Instructor in Michigan.
The BOYNE Golf Academy takes a holistic approach to learning and development of golf skills. Each of the winter golf schools includes a combined 24 hours of coaching, Trackman Ball Flight Analysis, V1 Coaching Video Analysis, fitness evaluation with a Titleist TPI professional, custom total game evaluation booklet, three rounds of golf on the Wanamaker, Ryder, or Dye courses at PGA Village with on-course coaching, daily entry to the PGA Learning Center, lunch, one hour of private coaching during the 2014 season, and on-going coaching through BOYNE Golf Academy’s online system.
The PGA Center offers the perfect locale for winter golf instruction. The facility, 35 acres in total, includes over 100 full swing practice stations, nine varied practice bunkers that simulate various configurations from around the world, 7,000 square feet of USGA putting greens, world-class golf fitness and performance center, and more.
During the summer season, BOYNE Golf Academy’s PGA certified instructors also offer private instruction, performance packages, ladies programs, short game clinics, and junior golf coaching. Programs are offered at Boyne Highlands Resort in Harbor Springs, Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, and Bay Harbor Golf Club in Bay Harbor.
