Gregory J. Schwartz Sr. was named tuition assistance honoree at the fifth annual Rice in the D. The event recognizes those who support and offer services to Brother Rice High School, a Catholic boys’ high school in Bloomfield Hills.

“My family has supported a Catholic education for over 75 years,” says Schwartz. “We feel that there is no better gift to our children and grandchildren than providing them with an education steeped in structure and moral values. I have experienced first-hand the advantages of a Brother Rice education through my five sons and six grandsons. These opportunities should be available to all young men, regardless of their financial means. We are investing in the future of our country.”

Schwartz has been an active member of the Brother Rice community since the late 1970s and has been involved in multiple committees, membership in the Dad’s Club, and advice for and investment in the Brother Rice Endowment Fund. He has also donated capital gifts to many of the school’s facilities and tuition assistance initiatives.

Schwartz is chairman of the board and founder of Schwartz and Co., a registered investment adviser and broker-dealer; the chairman of Schwartz Financial Group, a real estate investment company; and was previously a co-founder of Schwartz Investment Counsel, an investment management firm.

Along with his other responsibilities, he has also taught investment management and securities analysis at both the University of Detroit Mercy and Lawrence Institute of Technology.

Schwartz received his Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame.
