Blessings in a Backpack, headquartered in Louisville, Ky., the only national organization solely dedicated to feeding kids on the weekend, has appointed Scott Whicker of Michigan, senior vice president and president of Molex’s Transportation Innovative Solutions Division, as the board’s newest member.

“Joining the Blessings in a Backpack board is an honor,” says Whicker. “I believe my experience in marketing and sales can help propel their great mission to continue feeding more children, not only in our Detroit area but nationwide. I look forward to working with the dedicated Blessings in a Backpack team to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families.”

Whicker has worked for Molex since 1993, where he started as a sales engineer and soon accepted a position in the Detroit area as the company’s first resident engineer with General Motors Co. In 2007, Whicker relocated to Shanghai to serve as the company’s vice president of Global Automotive Sales.

After gaining experience managing a global team, Whicker returned to the United States in 2012 to oversee sales in the Americas while continuing to manage the Global Automotive team. He assumed the leadership role for the Transportation Innovative Solutions Division in 2023, following nearly five years as the senior vice president and president of Molex’s Global Sales and Marketing capability. In that role, he was responsible for commercial customer experience sales growth and development and the transformation of Molex’s marketing capability globally.

Whicker attended Purdue University for his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and Indiana University for his MBA.

“We are excited to welcome Scott to our board,” says Erin Kerr, CEO of Blessings in a Backpack. “With more than three decades of experience in sales and marketing, we are confident that Scott will bring valuable insights and strategies to help us expand our reach and impact.”

Along with Whicker, Blessings in a Backpack also announced the addition of Tiffany Brown of Georgia, managing director of Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Performance Improvement division; and Thomas Tucker of Kentucky, deputy commissioner and chief equity officer for the Kentucky Department of Education; to its National Board of Directors.
