CENTER LINE — After decades in the durable medical equipment industry, Binson’s Home Health Care Centers is celebrating its 60th anniversary with an expansion that includes hiring up to 100 new employees, due in part to being awarded a multiple Medicare competitive bid contracts.

Beginning July 1, all Medicare diabetes patients who use mail order for their supplies will be required to use a Medicare contracted supplier. Binson’s was also awarded contracts for walkers, oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP, enternals, negative pressure wound therapy and support services.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded contracts for both durable medical equipment and national mail order diabetic supplies,” said Kenneth Fasse, Binson’s executive vice president and COO. “The Medicare contracts awarded to Binson’s for durable medical equipment will enable our organization to expand its presence in Michigan and Florida and, in the case of the national mail order contract for diabetic supplies, Binson’s (the only Michigan based company) will be one of 15 suppliers in the country serving millions of Medicare beneficiaries who test their blood sugar levels at home as part of their care plan.”

In anticipation of the contract going into effect, Binson’s has upgraded all internal systems, and enlarged departments to make room for the new employees.

“We are proud and thrilled that this expansion will allow us to create nearly 100 new jobs in the metro Detroit area. Binson’s recognizes that future success relies heavily on the people involved, therefore we are looking for excellent candidates to join our growing family,” said Lindsey Hoover, director of human resources. “The positions available vary in location and range from customer service to warehouse. Our website, www.binsons.com, has been updated with an employment page where applicants can submit their resumes.”

Founded by George Binson as a single pharmacy in 1953, the company is now run by his son, James, and grandsons Jimmy, Bob and Nick. James was recently awarded the 2013 Alumni Achievement Award by Northwood University, where he received his BBA in Management in 1968.
