Beyond Basics Plans Annual Spring Fundraiser

1379

DEARBRON — Beyond Basics will host its 12th annual spring fundraiser, “Come Together for Children 2014,” at Lovett Hall at The Henry Ford on May 16.

The evening offers culinary delights, beverages, and dancing in celebration of students’ achievements, supporters and those who continue to make an impact in our communities.  A raffle, silent and live auction will be held to benefit Beyond Basics’ mission to empower children through literacy. You will also have the opportunity to meet our student Authors of the Year.

The Wayne and Joan Webber Foundation will be awarded the Literacy Chair for their many years of support. Our emcee for the event is Rochelle Riley, Detroit Free Press columnist and long-time advocate for literacy in Detroit.

Beyond Basics is a nonprofit child-centered, literacy nonprofit serving students in Detroit public schools since 2002 by providing reading tutoring and literacy support programs – writing, art, mentoring, and partnerships – for students in grades Pre-K through 12 during the school day.
