Jack Aronson, president of Great Fresh Foods, has been named chair-elect to the board of directors for Beyond Basics, a Southfield-based nonprofit, which provides literacy support programs to schools in Detroit and Pontiac.

Aronson, along with his wife, Annette, founded Garden Fresh Gourmet, and sold the company to Campbell Soup Co. in June 2015.
Their current company, Great Fresh Foods, offers pre-cooked beef, chicken, and turkey burgers, and Clean Planet Proteins, a provider of high-protein, low-fat entrees. Both companies are based in Clinton Township.

In addition, the Aronsons recently founded the Artichoke Garlic Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports youth education and food-related charities. The Aronsons also help support area Boys & Girls clubs, Forgotten Harvest, the Salvation Army, and other causes.
