Clayton and McKervey, a certified public accounting and business advisory firm headquartered in Southfield, announced it has promoted Ben Smith and Dave Van Damme, both senior managers, to the position of shareholder.

“I am proud to welcome Ben and Dave to the team of owners and look forward to the positive impact they will bring to our clients, colleagues and community,” says Rob Dutkiewicz, president of Clayton and McKervey.

“They are both phenomenal leaders with a strong dedication to this profession. Ben and Dave will positively impact Clayton & McKervey as they have since they joined the firm. We are excited to see how their vision and passion will help shape the future of the firm.”

As new members of the now 12-member ownership team, Smith and Van Damme will have an opportunity to expand their impact on the firm by building teams and practices which support their industry expertise, technical skills, and passion.

Smith leads the firms growing consulting practice, which provides strategic guidance to business owners in the areas of transaction and digital advisory services. He specializes in sell-side financial and tax due diligence, quality of earnings, working capital analysis, and data analytics. He also leads the firm’s technology initiatives.

Van Damme is a core member of the firm’s advisory and assurance team. He works closely with owners, CFOs, and plant managers to understand his clients’ business goals and align the right mix of technological and consulting support. As a certified fraud examiner, he helps clients become better educated on the best practices to help prevent fraud.
