DETROIT — The fourth annual Once Around Belle Isle Festival, taking place on the shores of Belle Isle State Park Beach on Aug. 8, has announced the full Moosejaw Paddlerama schedule of events, featuring paddleboard and stand-up paddleboard yoga classes for all ages, kayak classes, Paddlefit Competition, Canal Tours and much more.
The festival will feature a seven-mile race around the island as well as an expanded festival footprint and music lineup, featuring a headlining performance by the acclaimed Lansing/Kalamazoo-based band, Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers.
Classes are open to Race and Moosejaw Paddlerama ticket-holders. Early arrival and registration is essential. Class space as well as the provided paddleboards and kayaks are limited. Registration for the Paddlerama is done on-site on a first come first serve basis.
The festival race is for moderate to experienced paddlers, while Moosejaw Paddlerama is open to all paddler experience levels. It is not required to bring a SUP or Kayak to participate in the Paddlerama programming.
Advance tickets and registration information for OABI can be found by visiting oabidetroit.com. Limited OABI 2015 Race tickets are $50 in advance. Moosejaw Paddlerama tickets are $20 in advance. General Admission tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
