Behr America Names John Tepas Vice President of Engineering

TROY — John Tepas has been named vice president of engineering for Behr America, a leading supplier of automotive air-conditioning and engine-cooling systems.

Previously a Behr America director and chief engineer, he also is a member of Behr America’s Executive Committee.

Since 2006, Tepas has had overall responsibility for a variety of engineering activities including, new business acquisitions; customer-program engineering groups for GM, Ford, Chrysler and various heavy-truck customers; Vehicle Systems Integration, Electrical Engineering; Air Conditioning Heat Exchangers and Battery Cooling, and Behr’s North America wind-tunnel operations.

Prior to joining Behr, Tepas held senior engineering-management positions at GM and Delphi, including engineering group manager at Delphi Thermal and Interior in Dearborn, Mich., from 2001 until 2005. He also served as manager of Asia Pacific Engineering for Delphi Thermal from 1996 to 2001.

Tepas has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York.  In addition, he has been the recipient of multiple patent awards and received intellectual property awards for various HVAC  and engine cooling applications.
He resides in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
