ROYAL OAK — Daniel Menkes, M.D., has been named as health system chair for the department of neurology.
“Dr. Menkes brings to Beaumont an impressive array of credentials and will be an excellent addition to our staff,” says David Wood, M.D., chief medical officer of Beaumont Health System.
Wood says Menkes is an expert in neurophysiology with a specialty in neuromuscular disorders. He is responsible for developing and expanding neurology services at the three Beaumont hospitals in Grosse Pointe, Royal Oak, and Troy.
Menkes joins Beaumont from the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he served as professor of neurology. Before joining UCHC in 2008, he served as director of Clinical Neurophysiology and professor of neurology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center at Memphis. He had previously served as assistant professor of neurology and associate professor of neurology. He is a retired colonel of the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
Menkes received his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, followed by an internship at Framingham Union Hospital and a residency in neurology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
