Beaumont Health System Donates AED Device to JARC

ROYAL OAK — JARC, an organization serving people with disabilities, has received a donation from Beaumont Health System to purchase a special Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) device that is used when training deaf staff members.

The AED device is specially designed for this purpose, has written instructions, as opposed to verbal recorded instructions and is now used as part of JARC’s annual employee CPR and emergency treatment measures training program.

As part of its Independent Living Services, JARC serves men and women who are deaf and have a developmental disability. All staff who work with those who are deaf are fluent in American Sign Language; many are themselves deaf. This new AED equipment is critical to ensure that all JARC staff receive the training necessary to provide quality care to all those that JARC serves.
