Brandon Leslie, vice president of industrial at Barton Malow Co., has been elected to the board of directors of the Warren-based nonprofit Winning Futures.
Winning Futures aims to inspire and prepare teens to be successful in their careers through programming such as job readiness training, life skills development, strategic planning, mentoring, and scholarships.
“We are elated to have Brandon join our board,” says Kristina Marshall, president and CEO of Winning Futures. “He brings to us a wealth of knowledge and experience in the construction industry that will inevitably help our students as they explore careers, learn about skilled trades opportunities, and plan for their future.”
Winning Futures is known in metro Detroit for its Workforce Prep program, which gives students an experiential curriculum that helps prepare them to enter the job market and be successful. The nonprofit has also awarded $1.9 million scholarships since 1994.
Leslie, an executive with knowledge in heavy industrial construction, provides overall management and direction to industrial projects and develops new business opportunities in his role at Barton Malow.
“I was blessed with wonderful mentors who helped me better understand all the opportunities that hard work and education offered,” says Leslie. “I hope that my participation will help youth find a profession that gives them pride and the ability to give back to their communities.”
