SOUTHFIELD — Baker Tilly was recently ranked second in the large firm category as one of the 2013 Best Accounting Firms to Work for according to Accounting Today magazine. It also has the distinction of being the largest national company and the only firm in Michigan on this year’s list. They rose to No. 2 from the sixth position in 2012.

There are 120 employees, and practice areas cover assurance, tax, advisory and consulting. The survey and awards program are designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the accounting industry, benefiting the industry’s economy, workforce and businesses.
Accounting firms from across the United States entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Accounting Firms to Work For. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
