August Business Workshops Offered by Oakland County

WATERFORD — Business owners and entrepreneurs who need assistance are encouraged to attend seminars offered by the Oakland County One Stop Shop Business Center. 

Fundamentals of Starting a Business workshop participants examine their entrepreneurial skills, learn how to implement their ideas, and receive a list of pitfalls to avoid when starting a business.

The Fundamentals of Writing a Business Plan workshop is for small business owners who are working on developing their plan to success. Workshop participants discover the elements commonly found in effective plans and develop these for their own business.

Fundamentals of Marketing Your Business counselors guide you through successful techniques and marketing principles that help you promote your products and services to the most promising customers – your target audience.

Business Research: Feasibility to Expansion shows you ways to find your ideal customers, your competitors, perform competitive analysis, and more.

The CEED Microloan Orientation program helps small business owners understand the importance of working capital for existing businesses, start-up or expansion, equipment purchases, and job creation. The orientation is presented by Oakland County and C.E.E.D. (the Center for Empowerment & Economic Development).

Twitter for Business classes are offered in Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Participants will learn how to effectively use Twitter in their marketing strategy, how to find and track people talking about the company, product and industry, how to advertise with Twitter-promoted tweets, and more.

FastTrac GrowthVenture is an intensive, 10-week program designed for owners, CEOs, and top management team members of small businesses with at least two years of operating experience, minimum of two employees, and annual revenue of between $100,000 and $749,000.

The Team SBA Financing Roundtable session will demystify small business financing. Participants will learn how the lending process works and see how the Small Business Administration can assist with the SBA Guaranteed Loan Program

Unless otherwise noted, all programs take place at the Oakland County Executive Office Building Conference Center, 2100 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford. The building is west of Telegraph Road.
