AUBURN HILLS — The annual Auburn Hills Summerfest in the city’s downtown at Auburn and Squirrel roads will feature a variety of activities and attractions.

“We plan all year long for Auburn Hills’ signature celebration of the summer,” Mayor Kevin McDaniel says. “Summerfest is all about fun as we transform our downtown into a literal playground for all generations. There is so much to see, do, enjoy and experience and we invite everyone to spend the weekend in our city.”

Event highlights will begin with “Color Me Extraordinary 5K Run/Walk” in support of Easter Seals. The Optimist Club will host “By the River Car Show” at 10 a.m., a “Pet Costume Parade” at 11 a.m., the judging of the “State Championship BBQ Cook-Off” starts at noon, and kayak and canoe rides on the Clinton River at Riverside Park start at 4 p.m.

The festival will run from 4 – 10 p.m. June 19 and from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. June 20.
