AUBURN HILLS — During Auburn Hills Chamber’s Excellence in education event, the new Future Leader Scholarship, sponsored by Faurencia, was presented to Avondale High School senior, Manuel Roque. The $1000 scholarship was awarded based on grade point average, academic interest, and school recommendation and may be used at any educational institution.

Baker College and Oakland Community College also provided scholarships to each of the five high school students recognized at the event. Students from Avondale High School, Auburn Hills Christian, and Oakland Christian received a $500 voucher from Baker and a $250 voucher from OCC.

For the past 18 years, the Auburn Hills Chamber’s Excellence in Education program has celebrated the qualities of excellence in the Auburn Hills community. Students recognized through the program are selected by the 12 public and private school principals within Auburn Hills on the basis of character, community service, academics and involvement in extra-curricular activities.  As part of the program, the selected students name a teacher who has made a significant impact in their lives.

This annual outreach program was designed to promote the link between business, education and the community, and is supported through sponsorship, gifts and student scholarships.
