Ascension Providence Hospital Selects President, CEO of Southfield, Novi Campuses

After a national search, Brant Russell has been selected as president and CEO of Ascension Providence Hospital’s Novi and Southfield campuses.

Previously, Russell served as the regional COO and oversaw Ascension St. John Hospital and Ascension River District Hospital.

“Brant possesses a keen understanding of operations, and he strives for excellence in all of his endeavors,” says Joe Hurshe, COO of Ascension Michigan. “He is adept at collaborating with the medical staff to improve clinical quality, safety, and service. Brant is also passionate about Ascension’s mission, and he is focused on improving the patient experience.”

Prior to joining Ascension, Russell was vice president and COO for Summa Barberton and Wadsworth Hospitals, part of Summa Healthcare in Ohio, as well as a system director of emergency/trauma service lines for Summa. He’s also held multiple nursing leadership roles with Fairview Hospital, part of Cleveland Clinic Health System, and Metrohealth Medical Center.

Russell holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Nursing. He’s also a registered nurse and is nurse executive advanced board certified.
