ANN ARBOR — Health care analytics company, ArborMetrix Inc. has appointed Mark McClellan, M.D., Ph.D, M.P.A., a senior fellow and director of the health care innovation and value initiative at the Brookings Institution, to its board of directors.
A physician and economist, McClellan is the former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and also the former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In those roles, he led initiatives such as the Medicare prescription drug benefit and the FDA’s Critical Path Initiative, as well as public-private initiatives to develop better information on the quality and cost of care.
McClellan holds an M.D. from the Harvard University-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Division of Health Sciences and Technology, a Ph.D. in economics from MIT, an MPA from Harvard University, and a BA from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his residency training in internal medicine at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and has been a board-certified practicing internist during his career.
