Arab American and Chaldean Council Name Human Resources Director

The Arab American and Chaldean Council in Troy, a nonprofit human service organization serving southeast Michigan, has named Michael Thomas Sr. as its human resources director.

Thomas  will include managing the day-to-day operations of employment issues and staffing, recruiting employees, attending job fairs and related events, and advising managers on employment matters.

Prior to joining the organization, Thomas was a business consultant, volunteer and caregiver at Thomas Consulting in Dearborn where he provided best business practice options and training for government and nonprofit organizations. He also spent nearly 20 years at the University of Michigan-Dearborn working as the Partners Plus Program Coordinator and, later, its director, program manager and principal investigator. He also has served in various positions with colleges and universities throughout the state.

Thomas has participated in numerous workshops and conferences with the U.S. government and colleges and is involved in a variety of organizations including as board vice president of the West Village Academy and president of FBI Detroit Citizen Academy Alumni Association.

In addition to his duties at the council, Thomas is a business and economics division adjunct faculty member at Henry Ford Community College and a seminar adjunct faculty member at Oakland Community College.

Thomas, of Detroit, received his bachelor’s in business administration and organizational management and leadership from the University of Detroit-Mercy and his MBA in global business management and finance from Lawrence Technological University.
