OAK PARK — Forgotten Harvest, a food rescue organization, announced today that Joel McHale from the TV comedy show Community will headline its 23rd Annual Comedy Night on May 1 at the Detroit Opera House.

Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Forgotten Harvest’s network of more than 280 agencies in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. The proceeds will provide metro Detroiters in need with fresh, wholesome and nutritious food.

“Each year, our Comedy Night event has been instrumental in supporting Forgotten Harvest’s mission of relieving hunger in metro Detroit and preventing nutritious food waste,” said Forgotten Harvest CEO Kirk Mayes. “We’re looking forward to an entertaining evening that will positively impact thousands of families in need right here in our community.”

McHale stars on the hit comedy series Community, which will move to Yahoo for its sixth season after five seasons on NBC. He was most recently seen in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced supernatural thriller Deliver Us from Evil and appeared in Warner Bros’ romantic comedy Blended alongside Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.

Tickets can be purchased online at forgottenharvest.org, in person at the Detroit Opera House box office and all Ticketmaster outlets or charge by phone at 800-745-3000. Prices range from $25 to $175. Sponsorship packages are available; please contact Marc Berke at 248-864-7525 for more information.
