AUBURN HILLS — The 21st Annual Benefit on the Bay, the fundraising event to benefit the Detroit-based Capuchin Soup Kitchen, raised $100,175.

Mike Schodowski, vice president of sales of Shelving Inc., organized the event, and the company covered all costs for the fundraiser, ensuring all funds raised went to advance the Capuchin Soup Kitchen’s mission. Held at MacRay Harbor banquet center in Harrison Township, the event brought the total amount raised since the first Benefit on the Bay in 1993 to $1.1 million to support Capuchin.

Schodowski started Benefit on the Bay in 1993 with a group of friends, raising $1,400 that year. The event has grown every year since — including 2014 with 630 total attendees.

Shelving Inc. annually gives 10 percent of its profits to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
