ROYAL OAK — The 3rd Annual Wild West Summer Beer Fest will take place on June 21 at the Royal Oak Farmer’s Market. The event will benefit Camp Casey, a Royal Oak-based nonprofit organization that offers horseback-riding programs and therapy for children with cancer.
The summer beer fest, now in its third year, is a celebration of the craft beer industry and brings together the top local and international breweries. From beer enthusiasts to novices, guests will be able to sample dozens of new, old favorites, and limited edition beers, ales, and hard ciders as well as meet and talk to the representatives who will be on hand to provide their expertise and suggestions.
The Canadian craft beer movement will debut in Michigan, with several Canadian craft breweries at this year’s event.
Headlining the entertainment this year will be metro Detroit’s Orbitsuns, with Christina Chriss and Joey Fava from Kaleido also performing.
Area restaurants will offer patrons free cuisine pairings with the variety of craft beer selections. Some of the restaurants represented include Sunshine Swine, Blackfinn Ameripub, McClure’s Pickles, Peteet’s Famous Cheesecakes, Treat Dreams, and more.
A new component this year will be the addition of distilleries, including Detroit-based Two James and Cabresto Tequila, which will offer tastings of liquors and craft cocktails.
Guests can try their hand at some fun, interactive games including a celebrity dunk tank and fowling or a mixture of football and bowling in a horseshoes style game.
Suburban Buick GMC of Ferndale will get patrons home safe! As the official Designated Driver Sponsor they are offering free rides home to patrons within a 5-mile radius. Additionally, Uber will offer new riders $25 off their first ride, and for each new user using the “WWSBF” Uber code $5 will be donated to Camp Casey.
