
The American Red Cross has appointed Nada Charara as chief development officer for the Michigan Region. She previously served as regional director of development since joining the Red Cross in July 2021.
In this new role, Charara leads a seven-member team of professionals who secure funding resources for five Red Cross service lines that help the people of Michigan and those in other parts of the country and internationally. She also is responsible for driving relationship building with donors and growing the donor base, and will be the primary liaison to major corporations, foundations, and boards.
The chief development officer also is a member of the region’s leadership team. Charara brings to this role a wealth of experience spanning nonprofit and for-profit organizations and international fundraising.
Prior to joining the Red Cross, she was associate director of development for the American University of Beirut, a private university chartered in New York with its campus and medical center based in Beirut, Lebanon, from 2014 to 2021.
Trilingual in English, Arabic, and French, Charara earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Lebanese American University. She holds Red Cross certification training in adult and pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid, and was a founding board member of the Arab American Women’s Business Council.
