Southfield-based real estate company Farbman Group will sponsor the Salvation Army of Metro Detroit’s Fifth Annual Detroit Red Wings Alumni Charity Game and Skate-a-thon to benefit the Bed & Bread Program.
Brian Crawford of NAI Farbman/Farbman Group will join in the game and play against the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association team, which in 2013 included former Red Wings Dino Ciccarelli, Ed Mio, Jason Woolley, Dennis Hextall and Ted Lindsay.
“Farbman Group takes great pride in our partnership with the Salvation Army of Metro Detroit and support of the Bed & Bread Program,” said Andrew V. Farbman, CEO of Farbman Group. “As an organization passionate about deep roots in the community, our employees are dedicated to giving back each month as part of our Farbman Cares committee. At the same time, we are pleased to display the talents of our very own Brian Crawford on the ice, and look forward to another fun and exciting year of the Red Wings Alumni Charity Game and Skate-a-thon.”
The two-day event begins with the Skate-a-thon at on Jan. 24 and continues on Jan. 25, with the Red Wings Alumni Game. The game will also include a tribute to former Red Wings player and philanthropist Shawn Burr, who passed away last year after a three-year battle with leukemia. Both events will take place at the Troy Sports Center, 1819 East Big Beaver Rd. in Troy.
All proceeds from the game and Skate-a-thon will be presented at the 27th annual Salvation Army Bed & Bread Club Radiothon, airing live on News/Talk 760 WJR-AM on Feb. 21 at Oakland Mall in Troy.
The Bed & Bread Program provides shelter and serves more than 5,000 meals each day to men, women and children who would otherwise go without—providing more than 1.8 million meals every year.
