All-New Ford GT to Make Appearance at Eastern Market

The all-new Ford GT will make an appearance at Henry Ford Hospital’s Get Your Heart Racing Pit event to be held on June 11 at Detroit’s Eastern Market. The event will benefit the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute.

The Ford GT has rear-wheel drive, a mid-mounted engine, and an aerodynamic 2-door coupe body shell. It has a carbon fiber passenger cell with aluminum front and rear subframes, and is encapsulated in structural carbon fiber body panels. The lightweight construction will allow the Ford GT to deliver better acceleration, handling, efficiency, and safety.

The GT is powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine that produces more than 600 horsepower. The chassis is suspended by a racing-style torsion bar suspension with active inboard dampers and adjustable ride height.

Inside the GT, the seats are fixed to the carbon fiber tub, reducing weight and helping connect the driver to the chassis, while the steering column and pedals adjust to accommodate a wide range of driver statures. The steering wheel integrates a host of control options to eliminate column stalks, providing an unimpeded reach to the paddle shifters.

The instrument cluster is fully digital and configurable, enabling the car to provide necessary driver data while minimizing distraction. The driver may also select from multiple driving modes to optimize the experience depending on the venue and conditions.

All funds raised at the Get Your Heart Racing Pit event will go to research and the latest treatments for patients. Along with the Ford GT, guests will enjoy food and drinks, a NASCAR-themed auction featuring collector’s item sections of race cars, opportunities to meet NASCAR drivers Greg Biffle, Sam Hornish Jr., and the Wood Brothers, and entertainment.
