Farmington Hills-based engine developer, Achates Power Inc., has recently appointed Mark Subramaniam to vice president of business development.
In this role, Subramaniam will lead account development in the United States and Europe, with a focus on continued strategic growth. His main responsibilities will include developing and executing sales plans for top accounts by identifying new opportunities for engineering services and technology licensing.
Most recently, he served as the director of business development at Johnson Electric, where he was responsible for the engine and transmission management business unit in the Americas and for the chassis segment portfolio in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Subramaniam previously spent a combined 11 years in engineering and management roles at FEV Group.
“Mark is a great addition to the growing Achates Power team. He brings deep experience in engine design and development and will help us to continue growing our business,” says David Johnson, Achates Power president and CEO. “His background in engineering and business development will accelerate our work with leading original equipment manufacturers to bring our clean, efficient and cost-effective engines into production.”
Subramaniam earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin and is completing his master of business administration at the University of Michigan. Subramaniam was also a recipient of the Arch T. Colwell Merit award in 2005, an annual award presented at a Society of Engineers (SAE) meeting or any of its sections. He has been a member of SAE since 2002.
