BIRMINGHAM — 6 Salon Birmingham’s renovation last year of its new location has recently earned it two special industry awards for its salon design and aesthetics.

The salon has been named a “Salon of Distinction” in the nationally acclaimed “Salons of the Year” interior design competition sponsored by Salon Today, a  publication for the professional salon industry. This award is given to salons based on remodel, re-redesign or to a brand new salon in the past year. In addition to this, 6 Salon is also a finalist for the publication’s 2014 “Salon of the Year” award which will be announced later this month.

Additionally, the Professional Beauty Association  announced 6 Salon as a finalist for the 2014 North American Hairstyling Awards Salon Design of the Year. NAHA celebrates the artistry and skill of the professional salon industry. The salon is one of five salons selected nationwide for the coveted award.

“To receive this level of national recognition for 6 Salon Birmingham not once, but twice, by leading industry organizations such as Salon Today and the Professional Beauty Association is an incredible honor,” said George Nikollaj, co-owner of 6 Salon.

Last summer, 6 Salon moved from its former location on West Maple to 4,000 square-feet facility, which doubled its space, at 180 S. Old Woodward in the Merrillwood Building.  The salon is equipped with 21 stylist stations and in addition to the hair, color, make-up, airbrush tanning, waxing and nail services, the new location also has a “Lash Bar” featuring temporary and semi-permanent eyelash extensions.
