BIRMINGHAM — 6 Salon Birmingham has been named winner of the nationally acclaimed “Salons of the Year” interior design competition sponsored by Salon Today, a business publication for the professional salon industry.

The salon and spa, co-owned by Tomy Lulgjuraj, Johhny Nikollaj, and George Nikollaj, distinguished itself among approximately 100 qualified entries, and was featured on the cover of the June 2014 issue of Salon Today magazine. Salons competing in the annual “Salons of the Year” competition were either newly constructed or remodeled salons that opened in 2013. Last summer, 6 Salon Birmingham moved into a completely renovated 4,000 square-foot facility, designed by Detroit-based design firm M1/DTW, at 180 S. Old Woodward in the Merrillwood Building.

“We worked very hard to plan and design our Birmingham location to create an aesthetically pleasing and functional salon for clients and staff, so this is a tremendous honor to receive this award and recognition for 6 Salon,” Lulgjuraj said.

Salons were judged  on their use of color, lighting, flooring, efficient use of space, consistency of design, and overall aesthetic.
