SOUTHFIELD — Every year, over 10,000 people depend on the life saving work of Be The Match, which recruits potential donors to find a match for those who suffer from life threatening diseases such as cancer and are in need of a bone marrow transplant. Be the Match also depends on the My Friends Care Cancer Fund, a nonprofit organization which provides support and information to families and friends raising funds to benefit patients with cancer.

Be The Match, in partnership with My Friends Care Cancer Fund, is proud to host the 2nd Annual Michigan Marrow 5K Walk & Fun Run on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township at 10:00 a.m.

The walk unites communities across Michigan in support of helping cancer patients have a second chance at life. Your support helps cover the cost of adding new potential donors to the Be The Match Registry, increasing the chances of saving more lives. Funds raised will also allow My Friends Care Cancer Fund to assist more cancer patients and their families who are experiencing financial hardship, and increase marrow donor registration.

In the words of Michigan transplant recipient Taylor Kanas, “Embrace the beauty of life and live for today; it’s so much better than worrying about tomorrow.”
