2 Law Firms Receive Awards for Detroit Bankruptcy Contributions

DETROIT — The law firms of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, and Miller Canfield, have both received Turnaround Atlas Awards for their separate contributions to Detroit during the city’s bankruptcy. 

The annual award, which is presented by M&A Network, a merger and acquisition group, globally recognizes the best landmark deals, leaders, and professionals from the international restructuring, special situations merger and acquisitions, judicial, and out-of-court reorganizations industries. 

More than 35 Honigman attorneys and staff helped guide The Detroit Institute of Art’s through the city’s Chapter 9 bankruptcy case. The firm also represented the institute in negotiation of the Grand Bargain, which was approved by the court.  

Miller Canfield received the “Turnaround of the Year Award,” for its role as co-bankruptcy and bond counsel for the city of Detroit.
