Dr. Alon Kahana is an internationally renowned expert in orbital and ophthalmic plastic surgery. He is Professor of Oculoplastic Surgery in the Department of Ophthalmology, Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He is also a Program Director for a fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery approved by the American Society in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS), and teaches ophthalmology residents from Beaumont and Kresge/Wayne State University.
Dr. Kahana received his MD (with Honors) and a PhD in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology from The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology and ASOPRS fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin, as well as a Facial Cosmetic Surgery fellowship. Dr. Kahana has served in numerous leadership positions, including as President of the North American Society of Academic Orbital Surgeons and Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of ASOPRS.
At Consultants in Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery, PC, Dr. Kahana’s primary focus is on particularly challenging cosmetic and functional conditions of the eyelids, brows and eye socket. Dr. Kahana has unique experience in treating the most complex eyelid disorders, and a special interest in orbital surgery, thyroid eye disease, and pediatric oculoplastics (e.g. congenital ptosis). He has developed specialized techniques in orbital and eyelid surgery that allow him to provide expert care for the most discerning patients.
Consultants in Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery, PC, has ten locations: Southfield, Troy, Flint, St. Clair Shores, Rochester Hills, Dearborn, Novi, Southgate, Ann Arbor, and Livonia.
