    Dr. Arthur Frazier

Besides choosing equipment and handpicking his staff, radiation oncologist Dr. Arthur Frazier takes extra care when developing individualized patient treatment plans. Dr. Frazier heads the radiation oncology programs at Karmanos Cancer Institute’s cancer centers at McLaren Macomb, McLaren Clarkston, and McLaren Port Huron. He is part of a multidisciplinary team that plans treatments for patients, who are often scheduled for their procedures the same day they call for an appointment.

Dr. Frazier, of Oncologic Specialists PC, has the expertise and technology to provide necessary advanced technologies of radiation therapy for any kind of cancer. Treatments include: external beam, including IMRT and 3D conformal; low-dose internal (brachytherapy); high-dose rate brachytherapy (HDR); and image-guided stereotactic radiosurgery, which has become a significant part of his armamentarium against many cancers. Stereotactic radiosurgery is the most accurate, focused form of radiotherapy and is associated with high rates of local control and success, as well as very low rates of side effects. Patients with tumors involving the brain, liver, spine, spleen, lung, or prostate gland can be treated with stereotactic radiosurgery. In addition, Dr. Frazier uses specialized equipment to monitor internal organ motion to guide therapy, ensuring the radiation beams turn on and off as the tumor moves in and out of the radiation.

As part of Karmanos Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated, comprehensive cancer network, Dr. Frazier and his partners – Dr. Stephen Franklin, Dr. Neal Bhatt, and Dr. Matthew Johnson – enroll patients in national clinical trials, bringing the latest in worldwide academic research to the community.

Dr. Frazier is board-certified in radiation oncology and is a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology. He completed both his internship and residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Prior to joining McLaren, Dr. Frazier was the director of the Radiation Oncology Medical Residency Program at Wayne State University’s School of Medicine/Karmanos Cancer Institute.
