Ann Arbor-based SuperFocus, founded by Stephen Hsu and Tushar Sheth in 2020, is developing large language module artificial intelligence that helps prevent generated content that is nonsensical or unfaithful to the provided source content, known in the business as “hallucinations.”
The company develops AI “co-pilots” that use the LLM for language capability without training data. It connected the LLM to a memory module based on user-defined ground truth information, achieving 100 percent accuracy in answering college textbook questions, according to the founders.
“We build practical enterprise products with large language model AIs (LLMs, like ChatGPT) to help companies and their people perform better and faster,” Hsu says. “Our AIs are focused on internal company data, which we store securely in a separate memory module outside of the LLM, to stop hallucination.”
Among the industries that can benefit most from SuperFocus are:
Insurance: Co-pilot answers question about policies, analyzes coverage, and can compare policies.
Finance: Co-pilot can answer questions about, analyze, and summarize financial documents like transaction agreements, public filings, and research reports.
Corporate travel: Co-pilot produces step by step instructions from the arcane rules and procedures of airlines, hotel, car rental, train, and travel platforms.
