Founded in 2020 by Mujeeb Ijaz, Novi-based Our Next Energy (ONE) is a startup in the electric vehicle battery market.
The company began production of domestically made lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells earlier this month. The start of cell production comes one year after the commitment to launch ONE Circle, a 20 GWh battery factory complex in Van Buren Township.
“We are transitioning from a startup funded by venture capital to a manufacturer fueled by growth capital,” says Ijaz. “That’s important in this environment where urgent demand for U.S.-based cell manufacturing is on the rise.”
ONE says it’s focused on engineering batteries that will accelerate electrification. Its vision is to:
- Double the range of electric vehicles.
- Use safer, more sustainable raw materials.
- Establish a localized supply chain.
ONE currently offers four battery products:
- Aries LFP uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and innovative design, to deliver industry leading range, 5,000 cycles, and allow daily charging up to 100 percent% without degradation.
- Aries II pack delivers all the range and power of nickel-cobalt based batteries but with a far safer and more sustainable all-LFP chemistry — no nickel and no cobalt. It features an innovative modular design that adds required side-impact resistance while simplifying maintenance.
- Gemini, which features two cells using two different battery chemistries, each doing what they do best for short- and long-range trips.
- Aries Grid is capable of powering factories, data centers, communities, and stabilizing the power grid with 100 renewable energy. It uses LFP chemistry based on safe, abundant iron.
