Accessories by Gigi, which specializes in trendy and vibrant handbags for women, was launched in 2018 by Mari Byrd.
The company’s goal, according to Byrd, is to expand the brand to carry accessories for men and the home. Another goal is to place its products, which are manufactured in India, with Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom.
In December of 2022, Accessories by Gigi received its first U.S. Patent for it signature Full Circle handbag, which will go on sale in the fall.
“In 2020, we were a proud recipient of a $15,000 grant from Citizens Bank,” says Byrd recalling past investment in her enterprise. “In 2021, our company was gifted $10,000 by an executive board member of another national bank.”
On Sept. 9, Design Core and SpaceLab Detroit are hosting the United by Design Fashion Show on the streets of downtown Detroit’s Financial District. Accessories by Gigi will be featured in the show and Byrd was named to manage the event.
