Cleary University in Howell will relocate its Detroit Learning Center to a new site at the Jefferson Hub, located at 950 Selden St. in Midtown, from its current location at the Durfee Innovation Society in the center of the city.
The university states the move marks “a strategic step forward” in its continued investment in the city and its commitment to expanding access to career-focused education, professional collaboration, and community engagement.
Housed in the historic former Thomas Jefferson School — originally built in 1922 and now modernized — the university will occupy nearly 900 square feet of space in the Jefferson Hub. Other tenants include Invest Detroit and VVK PR + Creative, with Bamboo operating the coworking space.
Cleary University states it will share additional details about the transition in the coming weeks. An open house event also will be announced that will provide students, alumni, partners, and community members an opportunity to tour the new space.
“Relocating to Jefferson Hub represents an exciting next chapter for Cleary in Detroit,” says Jeremy Walker, COO of Cleary University. “This move allows us to better serve our students while strengthening our relationships with employers, alumni, and community partners throughout the region.”
The new location provides access to a wide range of modern amenities through its connection with Bamboo Midtown such as meeting rooms with 4K video capabilities, collaborative workspaces, and shared lounges.
Thee resources will enhance the experience for Cleary students, particularly those enrolled in public safety, business, and professional programs, by providing flexible, real-world learning environments that mirror today’s workplace, according to the university.
In addition to supporting academic programs, the new space will create expanded opportunities for Cleary to host networking events, alumni gatherings, professional workshops, community partnerships, and collaborative programming.
Founded in 1883, Cleary University is a four-year, private, nonprofit accredited university, offering undergraduate and graduate degrees from what it calls “a unique Business Arts curriculum.”
