Zaman International in Inkster helps households meet their basic needs and break the cycle of poverty. It is flexible and willing to work outside of programming to address the diverse needs of its clients. It also offers training and vocational programs, literacy training, driver’s education, and GED training for marginalized women. Zaman’s Client Choice Food Pantry is partnered with Gleaners Community Food Bank and allows families to choose culturally appropriate and nutritionally balanced food each month. The Mobile Hot Food Pantry delivers meals to homebound families. Zaman also offers an infant burial program that assists families that cannot afford a proper burial for a fetus, infant, or toddler, as well as international humanitarian relief in partnership with International Medical Corps. It began its work in 1996 and officially became a nonprofit in 2004.
