Women of Banglatown (WOB) was founded in 2014 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It offers a space for girls and young women in Hamtramck and the Banglatown neighborhood in Detroit to participate in free after-school programming. Since its founding the group has grown through friendships with families and their children and has gone from offering just summer classes on a table in an alley to year-ground weekly programming. WOB hosts weekly on-line workshops led by local women artists, WOB members, facilitators, and entrepreneurs. The goal is to ensure members have feel-good items in their homes and can be reminded that WOB cares for and supports them as individuals. WOB is adding in-person workshops to the weekly schedule starting late June/July. Workshops will include nature, art, and well-being classes.
