Based in Milford Township, the Walters Family Foundation supports nature conservation, arts and culture, economic vitality, and learning in southeast Michigan. The foundation works to build a legacy of stewardship between the natural environment and the communities that inhabit them. It supports initiatives that meet its guiding principles of empowering individuals, using innovative approaches, supporting leadership and partnership, and creating lasting impact. Within its environmental goals, the foundation supports work that restores Michigan’s watersheds, wetlands, and shorelines; preserves and restores the state’s rivers and streams; and develops green stormwater infrastructure. The foundation supports numerous organizations, including City Year Detroit and business accelerator TechTown Detroit.
