UCARE Inc. (Ukrainian Children’s Aid and Relief Effort) in Troy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the goal of assisting children (orphans, inner country displaced, and children of soldiers) living in Ukraine with ongoing humanitarian aid including food, clothing, footwear, hygiene items, over the counter medications, and more. Programs include sponsoring winter and summer camps in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine. The camps are filled with activities ranging from hikes in mountains, first aid, Ukrainian language, songs, traditions, trauma workshops, and English. The organization also supports orphans who aged out of their institutions, group homes with stipends for trade schools, and universities with added education and opportunities for their futures. It also provides medical aid and operates a healing-through-arts program.
