The Van House Foundation in Royal Oak exists to support other nonprofit organizations to focus their efforts to reach a younger generation. With an emphasis on ages 25-40, it offers advertising, event support, and key marketing strategies to those who wish to connect with this audience. One of the organization’s main initiatives, known as GiveYoung, helps connect the younger generation with a variety of nonprofit opportunities. It acts as a bridge between the two groups by pairing youth with causes that fit their lifestyles. In doing so, it works to find new ways to make learning about philanthropy exciting and aims to help the younger generation become involved earlier on in life. Upon its founding in 2011, GiveYoung partnered with two nonprofits. Since then, it has grown to involve more than 16 nonprofits in its charitable events and calendar year. Additionally, due to the success of its cause and positive feedback from the community, it has been able to expand its reach to the greater Midwest area.
