The Rainbow Connection in Rochester has been making an impact on Michigan children with life threatening illnesses through wish fulfillment, scholarship opportunities, and support services for more than 35 years. With 3,679 wishes granted since 1985, the organization focuses on fulfilling the dreams of children in the program, whatever their wishes may be. Outside of wishes, the organization also provides enhancement opportunities in the form of tickets to concerts, sporting events, and theater performances. The enhancement program also holds seasonal parties and picnics so wish families can get together and provide support for one another. The Rainbow Connection’s special response and connection program helps families in need of resources and financial support so they can focus on the health of their child rather than the cost of the care. The organization also has a competitive scholarship program for wish kids who are moving on to college or trade school. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the organization has virtual enhancement sessions set up so kids can take part in virtual crafts, magic shows, kick-boxing, and at-home science experiments.
