The Pink Fund was founded by Molly MacDonald in 2006. She was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in April 2005 and knew what it was like to battle the financial burdens of breast cancer. Based in Bloomfield Hills, The Pink Fund is a nonprofit organization that provides 90-day non-medical cost-of-living expenses to breast cancer patients in active treatments so they can focus on healing, raising their families, and returning to the workplace. The organization also provides financial support to help meet basic needs and decrease stress levels. The grant program allows patients to meet expenses for housing, transportation, utilities, and insurance. Since its founding through July 2020, the organization has made just over $4 million in bill payments on behalf of breast cancer patients.
