The Detroit Pistons Foundation uses basketball as a vehicle for social and community change in the metro Detroit region. Serving as the philanthropic muscle of the Pistons franchise, the foundation administers funds to charities, giving more than $700,000 in 2016. Education, health and fitness, mentoring, and equality are the four pillars of the foundation’s work. Basketball For All, the flagship program of the foundation, aims to distribute 125,000 basketballs and renovate 60 courts across the city by the end of the 2023-2024 school year. The foundation has also supported community organizations such as Forgotten Harvest, City Year Detroit, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
