The Speckhard-Knight Charitable Foundation in Ann Arbor was created by Gerald Knight in 1999 after the death of his parents, Faith (Speckhard) Knight and James A. Knight. The couple spent most of their life in Jackson, where James was the owner and CEO of Heat Controller Inc. After Gerald Knight unexpectedly passed away in 2018, his wife, Maureen Knight, and his children began to run the foundation. The entity supports organizations that helps families with programs that treat anxiety and depression, support foster care services, and help mitigate domestic violence. The foundation also supports organizations that promote sustainability and increase access to summer camps. Priority for support is given to initiatives and organizations in Jackson, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties. The foundation also underwrites the Faith Speckhard Scholarship through the Jackson Community Foundation.
