Sistahs Reachin’ Out (SRO) in Detroit was founded in 2000. Its mission is to gain economic equality for underserved and under-resourced residents and families in the city. SRO does this by promoting increased access to higher education, transformative employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities — three research-proven pathways for escaping low-wage living and poverty and achieving economic mobility and security. The organization hosts community events and initiatives throughout the year, including the Spring into Self-sufficiency Luncheon, the Career and College Access Center, the Pathfinder mentoring program, and a National Day of Service Family Financial Fitness Fair.
