Sisters Acquiring Financial Empowerment (SAFE) was founded in Detroit in 2006 to equip domestic violence survivors with the financial tools and resources needed to enable women to leave or recover from the economic portion of their situation. SAFE’s free virtual services equip survivors with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to end the cycle of economic abuse, while maintaining their personal safety via online methods and free conference calls. SAFE Jobs provides ongoing training, support, and safety planning for victims. The sessions incorporate economic empowerment initiatives for survivors of domestic violence and address other barriers that survivors of domestic violence face. Topics included in SAFE Jobs training are job seeking, resume creation, interviewing skills, customer service, personal finances, networking, online job seeking safety, and budgeting, among other topics.
