The People for Palmer Park (PFPP) was established in 2011 to help create the best park and nature experiences for all ages. Palmer Park, located near Woodward Avenue, between Seven Mile and McNichols roads, features 296-acres of woods, green space, and wildlife with some 12 miles of hiking and biking trails, a splash park, Lake Frances, and its lighthouse. PFPP is restoring the historic 1880s Victorian log cabin donated by Thomas W. Palmer to the city of Detroit. The organization hosts free community festivals including Log Cabin Day, Harvest Fest, WinterFest, as well as an Art Fair, clean-up and planting events, story times, concerts, and more.
