Peace Tree Parks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Detroit founded with the mission of increasing access metro Detroit residents have to fresh organic produce by converting vacant land into community gardens. The residential garden program and community garden program are designed to reach those in need regardless of race, age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. Peace Tree uses its community gardens as a path to demonstrate and educate residents about gardening with the goal of encouraging students/residents to begin gardening themselves.
